── Verity Reverie.; 26 | they/ them | Queer
Vera was born and raised in the undergrounds of Arasaka Tower. Vera had a unique connection to the net and the Blackwall which was exploited by Arasaka agents who posed as their parents. They were raised under religious circumstances and in complete isolation, being essentially a robot. Vera is incredibly obedient and overall very monotonous. Living in said underground lab Vera was experimented on, often subjected to sensory deprivation tanks and controlled electrical stimulation. In these moments was where Vera strengthened their bond to the net, subconsciously returning to it as a safe haven from the strenuous experimentation. As they grew older, developing an abstract connection to the net, they're discovered by Alt. Starting as a soft whisper she has no answers to the growing being that is Vera. While Vera is unaware of Alt's presence, Alt is aware of theirs. She manages to subconsciously guide Vera to escaping in hopes to protect them from Arasaka and their future uses for Vera.
Now in the open world Vera struggles to adapt. Accustomed to bland food, cold white walls, and the same routine, the blinding lights and overstimulating world of Night City leaves them curled up in an alleyway. To their luck however, they soon bump into Jackie Welles. Jackie protects them and temporarily homes them, where they develop a close bond. While they appreciate him dearly, Vera is widely unfulfilled without "proper" structure in their life. They bump into Kurt Hansen, which eventually leads to years of becoming a loyal lapdog for him while doing odd jobs on the side. It's only when they once again meet Jackie that they're called in for help with The Heist. The reunion is a bit tense considering Vera’s sudden disappearance, and the difference in Vera's personality. Where they were once naive they're now almost arrogant and aloof.

TW: Mentions of Childhood Abuse
October 12th, 2053 — the child of the former Doll Aria & Corpo-rat Cypher Moon is born. The child is left on the stairs of a Ms. Ember D'Amore, a woman who had extended her kindness to Aria plenty of times. While the child's mother wants little to do with it, the Father searches vehemently for his child.
Ember grows a mess in her older age, grieving the disappearance of her corporate husband. V is forced to learn the intricacies of the web rather than returning to school. She trains V to become a netrunner, searching for any intel she can find on her husband to no avail. If he fails in any way, he is punished. V is worked to the bone a majority of his childhood, all whilst simultaneously being Ember's caretaker.
Nearing age 12, V's home is raided by Arasaka after constant fishing around in their data. V is taken by them and subjected to long and strenuous work. It takes nearly a year for him to finally escape, and he garners a deep-rooted hatred for the Corporation. Alone and unsure, V spends time homeless. He lives in an under-bridge community doing odd jobs in exchange for eddies, food, or a couch to crash on. Amidst a small heist he bumps into two Mox who take him in for a while, treating him like a younger sibling.
One day he's attacked by a choom of his gone cyberpsycho; hence the two new gashes on his face. In shock, he breaks into a nearby apartment, which so happens to be Viktor Vektor— the well-known boxer. The man patches him up and invites him to stay in the spare room. V agrees, but the next morning he's gone.
There’s a lot of back and forth between the pair. V grows a habit of going to Viktor when he needs help, be it food, an injury, or whatever else. He’s untrusting of Vik’s gentle nature and concern but soon decides on properly moving in. Viktor attempts to enroll him in school though V is quickly kicked out (frequently getting bullied & kicking people's asses for it), so instead he teaches V about tech as he already seems to have a penchant for it.
V comes to know Jackie Welles and Misty Olszewski. The three quickly become an unstoppable trio, often wreaking havoc either Viktor or Mama Welles has to pull them out of.
